🛠️ Our Professional Epoxy Installation Process
A flawless, long-lasting epoxy floor starts with meticulous preparation. Our multi-day process ensures maximum adhesion and durability.
Phase 1: Preparation (The Most Crucial Step)
1. Surface Cleaning: We completely remove all dirt, oil, grease, and contaminants using industrial-grade degreasers.
2. Moisture Testing: A critical step to ensure the concrete slab is dry enough for the epoxy to bond properly, preventing future blistering.
3. Concrete Grinding/Profiling: We use diamond grinders to mechanically abrade the concrete, removing any existing coatings and creating the perfect porous profile (CSP) for the epoxy to bond permanently. We never use acid etching.
4. Crack & Pitting Repair: All minor cracks and imperfections are patched and filled using specialized epoxy fillers to create a smooth, level base.
Phase 2: Application (Building the System)
1. Primer/Base Coat: A colored, 100% solid epoxy resin is applied. This coat seals the concrete and provides the initial foundational layer for adhesion and color.
2. Flake/Aggregate Broadcast (Optional): If a flake or quartz system is chosen, chips are broadcast generously into the wet base coat until the floor is fully saturated (or "to refusal").
3. Scraping & Vacuuming: Once the base coat is cured, any excess flakes or aggregates are scraped off and vacuumed to ensure a smooth texture under the final topcoat.
Phase 3: Finishing & Curing
1. Clear Topcoat: The final layer—often a clear Polyaspartic or Urethane for superior UV stability and scratch resistance—is applied. This coat seals the entire system, locks in the color/design, and provides the final high-gloss, semi-gloss, or matte finish.
Cure Time:
2. Light Foot Traffic: Usually within 12–24 hours.
3. Heavy/Vehicular Traffic: Full chemical cure achieved in 5–7 days.
🎨 Customization & Finish Options
Epoxy offers unmatched versatility, allowing you to choose a system based on your functional needs and desired aesthetic.
Solid Color Epoxy
Simple, clean, high-gloss, or matte finish in a single, vibrant color (e.g., Light Gray, Tan).
Best For: Industrial spaces, minimal aesthetics, and utility rooms.
Epoxy Flake Systems (Broadcasting/Chip Floors)
The most popular choice. Colored vinyl chips are embedded in the epoxy, creating a textured, multi-dimensional look.
Benefits: Excellent slip resistance and superb at hiding dirt, dust, and minor imperfections.
Custom Options: Choose from 1/4", 1/8", or even custom flake blends.
Metallic Epoxy
Epoxy mixed with metallic pigments to create a mesmerizing, swirling, 3D effect that mimics marble, liquids, or clouds.
Best For: Retail showrooms, high-end residential basements, and lobbies where aesthetics are paramount.
Quartz Epoxy
Highly durable quartz sand aggregates are broadcast into the epoxy.
Benefits: Provides the highest level of non-slip texture and extreme durability, ideal for wet or heavy-duty industrial environments.
Texture and Finish Options
-
Gloss Finish: Highly reflective, modern, and easy to clean.
-
Semi-Gloss/Satin Finish: Provides a softer, more subtle sheen while retaining all protective qualities.
-
Matte Finish: A low-sheen option that minimizes reflections and hides scuffs well.
-
Anti-Slip Additives: We can add fine non-slip polymers to the final topcoat for added safety in garages, ramps, or entryways without compromising the look.
🛡️Key Benefits of Choosing Epoxy
Epoxy is an investment that provides long-term value, transforming your concrete into a superior surface.
Functional Benefits
-
Extreme Durability: Much stronger than standard concrete paint, resisting peeling, chipping, and abrasion from heavy foot traffic or vehicles.
-
Stain Resistance: Completely non-porous and resistant to oil, gasoline, cleaning chemicals, and other spills common in garages and workshops.
-
Easy to Clean: The seamless surface eliminates grout lines and pores, making sweeping and mopping simple.
-
Hygienic: Resistant to moisture, mold, and bacteria growth, ideal for food service or clean-room environments.
Aesthetic and Financial Benefits
-
Increased Property Value: A professionally installed epoxy floor is a highly desirable upgrade, particularly in residential garages.
-
Brightness: High-gloss finishes reflect light, making your space feel larger, brighter, and safer.
-
Longevity: With proper care, a professional-grade epoxy system can last 15–20+ years.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
-
How long does the installation take?
-
Typically 2–3 days from start to finish. The majority of this time is dedicated to preparation and mandatory cure times between coats.
-
-
Will the smell bother me?
-
We use high-quality, low-VOC (Volatile Organic Compound) epoxies. While there will be an odor during application, it is far less noticeable than older solvent-based systems and dissipates quickly with proper ventilation.
-
-
Is it slippery?
-
A high-gloss epoxy floor can be slippery when wet, but we offer flake systems and anti-slip additives that can be incorporated into the topcoat to create a safe, non-slip surface texture.
-
-
How do I clean my new epoxy floor?
-
A soft bristle broom or a microfiber mop with a mild, non-acidic detergent is all you need. Avoid using soap-based cleaners, as they can leave a residue over time.
